The Juniors have had an eventful year at Burwood Tennis Club. Winter 2010 bought 1 gold medal team from 10 competing teams. In Summer 2010-11 Adam Davis and Sithira Muthumuni won their second Gold Medal from 2 consecutive competitions, go boys! BTC Dsp 3 Triples Rachel ‘Topspin’ Harris, Eliza ‘Forehand’ O’Farrell, Ruby ‘Rocket Serve’ Owen and Tara ‘Tara Power’ Reiter missed out on the Gold Medal by only 1 nail-biting, heart-breaking game, winning Silver instead which was a fantastic award for a fantastic season, so close girls! B1 Rubbers Johno Stakos, Matt Salvo and Harry Sharpe also came agonisingly close to the Gold medal, they were Silver medallists by 1 set.

The current 9 teams in the winter 2011 season have played exceptionally well with finals looming. From BTC’s 9 teams, 6 will be competing in finals tennis for the club. Sadly, Adam and Sithira will not have the opportunity to win their 3 Gold in a row, just missing the finals this season. On Saturdays we have both our Bsp 3 Rubbers Red and Blue Teams comprising of Campbell Mowat, Ben Hall and Johno Stakos, Matt Salvo and Harry Sharpe battling it out at BTC for a spot in the Bsp 3 Rubbers Final. Book your seat on the Ron Simpson Stand!

We will also be cheering on the BTC Boys B2 Singles Doubles Team comprising of Will Smith, Damon Bol, Lachlan Kafer, Dean Constantineas, Harry Thompson and Dylan Court; and also our C1 Girls Singles Doubles Team - Rachael ‘Topspin’ Harris, Eliza ‘OMG’ O'Farrell, Ruby ‘Rocket Serve’ Owen, Tara ‘Tara Power’ Reiter and Virginia ‘Cool, Calm, Collected’ Cashmere – in the Winter 2011 finals series. The girls will be playing in the Grand Final.

On Sunday mornings the experienced Dsp 2 Triples Team who has been playing together for the past 3 seasons have made it 3rd time lucky, qualifying for the finals this season. We wish Claire and Xander Simpson with Carina and Jono Chan all the best of luck in the weeks ahead. BTC’s brand new entry level team Captained well by Lachlan Crestani with Julian Scaturchio, Tommy Han and Naca Hitchman have made a stellar start to their competitive tennis by making the finals series and just missing out on the Preliminary Final after going down in a hard fought Semi Final.

As Acting Junior Convenor I would like to thank Hamish so much for the great atmosphere he creates on a Saturday morning with the Junior Teams. I wish all the teams well in the finals and look forward to a great summer ahead and some great matches with the Club Championship finals.
